Articles in the Constitution
There are 7 articles in the U.S. Constitution. They list all the powers of the Federal Government. They are as follows:
Article #1: The Legislative Branch (Congress)
It says:
-Collect taxes
-Borrow money
-Regulate (control trade)
-Print and coin money
Article #2: The Executive Branch (the President)
It says:
-The President executes laws (carries them out and enforces them).
-The Electoral College votes for the President and vice president
-The President has to be at least 35 years old, a natural born citizen, and has to have lived in the U.S. for 14 years.
-The President can be impeached for treason, bribery, or other high crimes
-The President can make treaties with other countries as long as 2/3 of the Senate approve it.
Article #3: The Judicial Branch (The Supreme Court and other federal courts)
It says:
-The Judicial power rests with the Supreme Court and other federal courts
-Judges serve for life with good behavior :)
-The Supreme Court decides cases arising under the Constitution and cases involving federal laws, treaties, and so forth.
Article #4: Interstate and Federal Relations
It says:
-States must honor one another's laws, records, and court rulings
-Congress can admit new states into the Union (the U.S.)
Article #5: Amending (Changing) the Constitution
It says:
-An amendment (or change) to the Constitution may be proposed (suggested) by 2/3 of both Houses (the Senate and the House of Representatives)
-2/3 of state legislatures (governments) may ask Congress to call a convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution.
For an amendment to pass:
-They must be approved by 3/4 (75%) of the state legislatures or by conventions of 3/4 of the states.
Article #6: National Debts/Federal Supremacy
Its says:
-The Constitution and federal laws are the highest laws of the land. They are supreme.
Article #7: Ratifying the Constitution
It says:
-The Constitution must be ratified by 9 of the 13 states
Article #1: The Legislative Branch (Congress)

- Congress alone has the power to make laws.
- Congress is made up of two houses which are the Senate (each state gets 2) and the House of Representatives (representation based on a state's population).
- Bills passed by the both the Senate and the House of Representatives must go to the President for approval. If the President signs a bill, then it becomes a law.
- If the President does not approve a bill, he sends it back to Congress (also known as a veto)
- If 2/3 of both houses approve the bill, it passes over the President's veto (also known as overriding the President's veto)
